Stanley....Live, Work, Play Well!

Close to nature and convenient to the region and the world.  That's why we say: "The Best of Times Start in Stanley" -- strategically located halfway between Green Bay and Minneapolis/St. Paul, along Highway 29 in west central Wisconsin.  Stanley is a warm-hearted community of 3,378 and straddles Chippewa and Clark Counties.  It offers a fine balance of businesses, products, services, housing, plus good schools and varied recreational opportunities.

Stanley has had the vision to build a stronger community with necessary infrastructure, essential services and 380 in extra acreage for new business ventures to
improve our tax base and offer additional employment opportunities.

Based historically on agriculture and wood working industries, the Stanley workplace has been changing rapidly since 2002:
    * Stanley Correctional Institution, a medium security prison, employs 365 as a stable workforce in various economic conditions. Local staff and near - release, minimum security prisoners from Chippewa have been donors of time, money and useful items for local projects.
    * Ace Ethanol, Wisconsin's first large-scale producer of ethanol, employs 40 and is a financially viable operation.
    * Our Lady of Victory Medical Center was built on a 30-acre campus near Highway 29 and includes a 24-bed inpatient hospital, surgical suites, outpatient facilities for kidney dialysis and cardiac rehabilitation, a medical clinic, Wisconsin certified Level IV Trauma emergency care, pharmacy, cafeteria and gift/floral shop.
    *  The Homeplace of Stanley, Haven Memory Care, 5th Avenue Simply Care and other assisted living apartment options offer increased nursing and support employment plus housing options in a continuum of care which includes Alzheimer's and dementia services.  The HOMEPLACE of Stanley offers Senior Care Apartments with up to 28 hrs of  weekly care.
    *  Banking, insurance, telecommunications, health-fitness and retail businesses have also increased local employment opportunities

Recreational opportunities including camping, hunting, fishing, biking, hiking, cross country skiing and  snowmobiling, make Stanley a year round outdoor paradise. Among the amenities offered in the Stanley Community is the year round Stanley-Boyd Community Pool, which consists of an Olympic size swimming pool and an attached Fitness Center. Both facilities are located at the local High School and are open to the public at very reasonable fees. Six local parks offer picnic facilities, playground equipment, ball fields and tennis and basketball courts. An elk and deer park are located at Chapman Park.   Chapman Lake Dam Project Update.
